Belonging propogranda 2024-Now

In response to gallery closures during Covid, there were thirty-five small acrylic paintings installed on hydro poles throughout Toronto, bringing the gallery outside. The pandemic isolated and broke people, through death, illness, fear and the loss of community.

These works aim to address the isolation and residual fear by bringing art out of the gallery and into the community and encourage engagement.   Silkscreened prints on painted wooden panels installed around the city of Toronto on wooden poles. The premise is simple.  Canadians  tend to obey street signs, and generally be polite. The hope is people will take to heart what these signs say. Engaging passersby to look, listen, speak, pay attention, to create a sense of belonging, and self-worth. Their presence is to instill hope, love, belonging and encourage an open dialogue with those on the street who PAY ATTENTION.
