One of the first small votive figures, of stone, fits in the palm of your hand.
Its purpose may have been to honour and encourage fertility. What happens if it is 36″ tall? Does size matter. These over sized silkscreened stencil prints explore that. The idea sprung from a conversation with Susanne Maziarz- composer and musician.
Now lets juxtapose the Venus of Willendorf in an unfamiliar setting, the city. These works are mixed media, acrylic paint with 7-10 layers of silkscreen stencil city shapes and then finished off with a silkscreened image of Venus in her true size.
